About us

The Swedish Cooperative Centre (SCC) is a development organization founded by the Swedish Cooperation in 1958. Our vision is a just world free from poverty. We move towards our vision by working in long-term development projects together with local organisations in the countries where we are active.

By offering aid for self-help, we give poor people tools to find a way out of poverty by themselves. We create opinion and provide information with the aim to inspire people to take a stand for a just world.

In January 2009 the Swedish Cooperative Centre was fully integrated with KF Project Center, an organisation with over 20 years experience of cooperative development work mainly in Eastern Europe and Asia. KF Project Center is now a region within SCC for Europe and Asia. The integration meant five new partner countries and a pooling of knowledge, experience and off course resources. The regional office for Europe and Asia is located in Stockholm at the head office of the Swedish Cooperative Centre.

SCC has three additional regional offices; Latin America (Costa Rica), Eastern Africa (Kenya) and Southern Africa (Zimbabwe).

More than sixty organizations and companies are today members of the Swedish Cooperative Centre and they all stem from the Swedish Cooperative movement. Our activities are financed mainly by Sida, The Swedish International Development Authority, and fundraising in Sweden. The more money we raise, the more we receive from SIDA.
