SCC promotes visionary leaders

A study commissioned by SCC in the early 1990’s identified a multiplicity of factors affecting the performance of the cooperative movement. It was established that cooperative movements in the region were performing poorly partly due to poor leadership, bad governance and mismanagement leading to loss of faith in the movement by members and hence a negative image of the movement. Political interference in some of the cooperative movements aggravated the situation leading to a near total collapse of the sector and movement.

Among the measures recommended to address these negative impacts on the movement and sector was the development of a critical mass of leaders capable of leading the movement and the sector to transform itself to remain relevant and strategic for the benefit of its membership.

The Leadership For change programme Evaluation report takes stock of experiences & lessons learnt.
